Another change in name for this small restaurant.  This time, same owner, different name, the 'Kennesaw Doghouse' and hopefully better hours.  This is the 4th restaurant at the site that I know of.

Customer Parking signs are up for the newly configured place, with the Kennesaw branch of the Cobb County Library just across the small parking lot there has never been enough parking.  Here are 2 recent photos FYI:

For now the hours here will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. M-F, closed weekends.  They may change after the initial break in period.  For those who have looked in before, you will notice that the menu has changed to a newer format.  Same prices and selection.

This is the NEW menu, effective June 2015
On 6/8/15 I stopped by and this time had the French Dip on a Roll ($7.00), last time was the Pastrami whole at ($9).

'ON A ROLL' Sandwich Shop is Now Open!

Some new photos of the restaurant which was closed 5/23-4 while the parking lot was re-surfaced.  Hours will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Note:  During the summer of 2012, T J Bryan's was also open 11-3 five or six days a week, and for a bit I believe they tried 8-3.

The 'old' T J Bryan's Facebook page is still up at:  https://www.facebook.com/TJBryans

"ON A ROLL" Gourmet Sandwich Shop To Open Soon Downtown Kennesaw

You might recall the downtown Kennesaw restaurant "The Boxcar Cafe"  and "T J Bryans" http://theboxcarcafe.blogspot.com/, both run by the same people (Natasha, Marie and T J Bryan) at 2893 N. Main Street, just across the parking lot from the Library.

Unfortunately it failed both times, but now after being empty for some time a new gourmet sandwich shop is about to open in the same location.

This restaurant has the same ownership as PISANO'S PIZZERIA LLC which is located 3 blocks further south on Main Street at the intersection of Summer Street.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Between the closing of the old T J Bryan's restaurant and the opening of  'On A Roll' this unit was rented for one year by '1 Little Meal', a charity which provides lunches for kids.

Their blog site still is up at:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/1-Little-Meal-Inc/162283587267381

UPDATE OF OCT 2016:

The below information is out of date as the Whistle Stop remains in their Cobb Pky location (just across from the IHOP).  The WS owner was not happy with the slow movement of getting the old bank redone for their use as a restaurant and they canceled the deal to move into that bank location.  This goes back about a year +, so it isn't a real hot off the press update.

WHISTLE STOP CAFE COMING TO DOWNTOWN AUG 1, 2015

Plans for the Whistle Stop Cafe seem to be on track for a relocation from their current Cobb Pky location on Sat. August 1st.

The restaurant will close 2 weeks before the move in order to complete the relocation, which includes the trademark train.

The new location downtown is the old Wachovia Bank building, outdoor seating will be featured and the vault area will be used for office space and storage.  The indoor area available for customer dining will be slightly smaller than at their existing location.

The former Whistle Stop location on Old Main Street, next to Wildman's, remains boarded up and unused since the fire there several years ago.

I assume this restaurant will open soon, it looks like they ran out of room to hang banners!

Unfortunately it failed both times, but now after being empty for some time a new gourmet sandwich shop is about to open in the same location.

It is called "On A Roll" and the owner is Anthony Valvo.  I note that there is an Allstate Insurance Agent of this name and also there is a man by that name on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/anthony.valvo.5/about

NEW RESTAURANT TO OPEN SOON IN THIS LOCATION?

As of 1/19/15 the shop is cleared out except for some restaurant type items seen on the sideboard.  It is possible that a sandwich shop will be going in shortly.

FYI:
Area residents will recall that while TJ's was open, 5/24/11 to 10/5/12, it was a continuation of the already closed Boxcar Cheesecake Cafe, with the same staff.

Since then the property has been vacant for much of the time, the exception being for a rental for 12 months to "1 Little Meal Inc":  see - https://www.facebook.com/pages/1-Little-Meal-Inc/162283587267381

With ongoing construction downtown the prospects for rental increase a bit.  See:   http://downtownkennesaw.blogspot.com/

New Info from the Kennesaw Watch
The Kennesaw Watch

FYI: T.J. Bryan's will be closing their present location on Main Street in downtown Kennesaw, on Friday, October 5, 2012. They will be open for Lunch, Monday - Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. up until the last day they are open for business.

But, the good news is that Bryan and the staff are not leaving the area. There are plans for a larger restaurant, with more parking, a more extensive menu, and possibly adult beverages served. We will miss TJ Bryans, however as one door closes, another door will be opening sometime next year.

The Kennesaw Watch will post more details in the future. Good luck Bryan!!
